Selfie Hagit Dror and William Forshée photograph, 64" x 48"; price upon request Exhibited at Village West in Ancien Régime: the pre-revolutionary world Fall 2018 |
"Selfie is a satirical reflection of social media. As we become more reliant on social media we disengage from the physical world. We feed our social status and self-esteem while algorithms filter our news. We become isolated in our own ideological bubbles.
What are the moral and social implications associated with this? Is our democracy in crisis, and if so will we be able to save it?
Selfie takes inspiration from Jacques-Louis David's Napoleon Crossing the Alps. It's part of a new series where we spotlight a variety of social and political issues."
