Water Serpents I (1904) Gustav Klimt Inspiration piece for Andrea McKenna for the Under the Influence show, Fall 2016 |
"Wind was created as I listened to one of my favorite orchestral composers. Every piece of work I make is born from this process and it becomes a sort of spiritual session that allows me to work uninterrupted.
That being said, Gustav Klimt's Water Serpents I is one of those paintings that is not unlike the music I listen to, that helps me to find my voice when painting. It is transporting and provoking. Klimt's movement of forms and dense color in this work provides me with intention and desire to create even a sliver of what he does. With deep emotion, wild humanity and passion."
