Composition II - sketch (1910) Wassily Kandinsky Inspiration piece for Chizu Omori for the Under the Influence show, Fall 2016 |
"The first time I saw a Kandinsky painting was many years ago, when I happened upon one in a museum by chance.
My feet were frozen in place in front of that painting, and my thoughts stopped completely. I was touched deeply inside. It was just a painting, but it was vibrating with a wonderful melody and I felt like I was listening to a sound I had never heard before. I realized that I was unable to easily walk away from that painting. It was guiding me to a dream world I had never in my life experienced.
In this painting I wanted to pay homage to Kandinsky's sense of vibrant and harmonic color."
