Throw-Away Laurie Riccadonna oil on canvas, 17" x 25"; $2,000 Exhibited at Village West in Ancien Régime: the pre-revolutionary world Fall 2018 |
"Made to last forever, plastic never goes away.
It cannot biodegrade and as it breaks down into smaller and smaller pieces it chokes and poisons the environment.
This painting, Throw-Away, addresses the contemporary environmental crisis of plastic pollution.
It is part of a series of paintings that depict seemingly endless landscapes of plastic debris. This debris is contrasted with interspersed images from the natural world, shells, flowers and animals that inhabit these increasingly polluted environments."
