Figure Motif (1921) Gustav Miklos Inspiration piece for Eleanor Ryan in the Under the Influence show, Fall 2016 |
"Miklos depicts a elegant figure in its most basic shapes. I mimicked the style and took the elegance a step further into regality. I used bolder colors in a similar scheme to dramatize the figure's importance and emotions. I took Miklos' shapes and moved them to have different representations of body parts. I rearranged the background to give the painting more depth and push the figure forwards. My painting depicts a bolder character in the style and world Miklos had created."
