from Under the Influence

Sean Slaney participated in the Under the Influence show in Fall 2016 at Village West.

Slaney is an artist who lives and works in East Harlem, New York. Born in Boston, he moved to NYC to attend Parsons School of Design, and has since had his work shown in numerous New York City galleries.

Working in window display Slaney has done extensive mural painting, installation and prop building for numerous luxury department stores including Bergdorf Goodman, Barneys NY and Jeffrey NY, as well as customizing goods for Louis Vuitton.

His work frequently returns to his roots in illustration: his works on paper and paintings make use of spray-paint and contemporary influences as heavily as they borrow from art history. Slaney's projects center on his stencils, which are by turns playful and perverse, sunny and sly.
