This work was created in the wake of the Thomas Fire that burned on the south coast of California in the winter of 2017.
I was evacuated for weeks and then returned to a studio unharmed but filled with ash. Fire Forest is about the complicated emotional terrain the fire left for me in its aftermath - a need to slow down, experience awe, and look long into the future as climate events unfold on a geologic scale.
